The people who make Maldives, the best experience for everyone.
Maldives is so far away and often remote for 75% of their islands. How do you think they recruit people to work on the resorts in the Maldives?
Let's find out!
When you travel to the Maldives, you will see how each and every employee that is part of the support team or customer service to the guests does their best to give each and every guest the best experience. But you will find it interesting to know how they live in Maldives.
1 - How do they recruit employees in the maldives?
They recruit 90% of the employees with a permanent contract where they can only go home or take holiday to see their family once every 6 months for a maximum of 6 weeks. Otherwise contractually they cannot live the Islands unless they are very sick and need medical examination that is not available there.
2 - How do they spend their time after work?
They have plenty of facilities and entertainment in their disposal to spend their time at. From games room, spa, cinema room, own swimming pool, and own side of the beach. They are not allowed to use the part of the beach that guests use.
3 - What does their accommodation entail?
To be honest, they have a good contract, they go there to work and have guesthouse/shared bedrooms, food, medical services, internet for free. And to add to that they receive relatevely high wages which as per statistics is the main pull factor.
The employees in Maldives are majorly from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India and locals from Male.
4 - How is their meal arrangements?
They don't eat the same food that guests do at any restaurant they serve. They have their own kitchen where they make the meals for them. Employees working in the kitchen have a really hard job (as everywhere else in this industry) but being in the heat that is of Maldives and cook is not easy. They have to wake up at 3-am to start cooking for breakfast, and then it contninues until dinner time.
5- How do they or you can get a job there?
There is lots of agencies who work specifically for the resorts and recruit for them, and if anyone would want to do some kind of business there, for instance to open a shisha bar, photography stand or water sports agency you could contact the manager of the island and pitch it. They would be happy to have you. You would have to buy your own flight ticket to go there and they would provide you with accommodation and food.
So all in all, this is to say, when you go there, do take into consideration that they spend months and months without seeing their families while still having a big smile on their face. Do treat them equally and with respect. They will make your journey even more magical.
