Traveling to Antalya, Turkiye? Here Is Your Essential Antalya Travel Guide For Your Trip

I am from Portugal and people mostly tell me "If you are from Portugal then WHY do you need to go abroad for Holidays?"

Well, they are completely right! But I love to explore and meet new people and see other cultures.

Plus I now live in London so I am in constant need of holidays, I mean SUN!

This is the first place I visited after I moved to the UK. And I must say. From weather to people I loved it all!

Getting to your Accommodation

Getting from Antalya Airport to your accommodation can be managed through several transport options:

  1. Taxi or Rideshare: Taxi and rideshare services are available outside the airport. Confirm the fare before starting the journey or ensure the taxi uses the meter.

  2. Airport Transfer Services: Many accommodations offer airport transfer services. You can arrange this in advance through your hotel or lodging.

  3. Public Transportation: Antalya has a public bus system (line 600) connecting the airport to different parts of the city. However, this might involve multiple stops and transfers.

  4. Car Rental: Car rental companies have counters at Antalya Airport. Renting a car offers flexibility but may require navigation in an unfamiliar area.

  5. Hotel pick-up: Book the pickup with your hotel and you can be assured you have a private taxi going to the right place.

To go around Antalya, you can get taxis or buses, if you find a taxi driver that you like, you can ask him/her to become your private taxi driver for the time frame that you are staying there and they will do a good price.

Places to see around Antalya, Turkey

Below is your itinerary for Antalya, Turkiye including a recommendation of one of the best hotels you could book to stay there and a few places you could go outside Turkiye through an agency or taxi.

Resort in Antalya

We stayed in Antalya at the Sueno Hotels Beach Side Resort!

OMG! You would need at least 3 days to explore the Resort area itself. So take more days if you plan to stay in and out to explore.

You have bars, nightclubs, shisha places, massage centers, and outdoor and indoor swimming pools. You name it.

Get an All-inclusive deal, you will thank me later! The amount of restaurants they have fits all people from all around the world. You will love it. Even if you don't book this Hotel you should go for the All-Inclusive resort because it's worth the money.

You can get the Hotel to pick you up and drop you back at the Airport for a reasonable fee.

Once you are familiar with the place you are staying at and want to go out. You can use taxis to go around the city which are always available outside your Hotel, alternatively, you can use the private Hotel bus which will take you to specific places. Then you just need to take the same bus to return back to your Resort.

We did a mixture of both taxis and buses and we found that it was super safe.

People there are very kind and live a very simple life. We like that.

Turkish Hammam Baths

Have a Hammam Bath and get a few massages too. The ambient and the treatment they have will suck all negativity and impurities out of your body.

Hammam baths, also known as Turkish baths, are a rejuvenating and indulgent experience that combines elements of bathing, cleansing, and relaxation. Originating from the ancient Roman bathing traditions, hammams have been an integral part of Turkish culture for centuries, offering a unique and refreshing way to unwind.

Stepping into a hammam is like entering a serene oasis, where warm, steamy air envelops you, transporting you to a world of tranquility. The hammam ritual typically begins with relaxation in a warm room, allowing your body to acclimate to the heat and prepare for the cleansing process. As your pores open and sweat gently starts to cleanse your skin, a skilled masseur or masseuse will gently exfoliate your body using a traditional scrubbing mitt, called "Kese". This deep exfoliation removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling incredibly soft and smooth.

After the exfoliation, you will be treated to a foam massage, where luxurious bubbles are created using a special soap made from olive oil and scented with aromatic herbs. The masseur or masseuse will skillfully massage the foam into your body, providing a soothing and relaxing experience that melts away any tension.

The hammam experience concludes with a refreshing rinse and a dip in a cool pool or shower, invigorating your senses and leaving you feeling revitalized. Many hammams also offer additional services such as massages, facials, and aromatherapy treatments, allowing you to tailor your experience to your specific needs.

Hammam baths are not only a luxurious indulgence but also have numerous health benefits. The steam and heat help to detoxify your body, improve blood circulation, and relieve muscle tension and joint pain. The exfoliation promotes healthier skin, leaving you with a radiant glow.

Whether you are seeking a relaxing escape or a cultural experience, hammam baths in Turkey offer a unique blend of tradition, luxury, and well-being. Treat yourself to this ancient ritual, and let the hammam transport you to a world of relaxation and rejuvenation. Discover the wonders of a hammam, and experience the epitome of Turkish hospitality and self-care.

Visit Aspendus

Aspendos was an ancient city in Pamphylia, Asia Minor, located about 40 km east of the modern city of Antalya, Turkey. It was situated on the Eurymedon River about 16 km inland from the Mediterranean Sea; it shared a border with and was hostile to the side.

Aspendos is known for having the best-preserved theatre of antiquity. With a diameter of 96 meters (315 ft), it provided seating for 12,000. It was built in 1559 by the Greek architect Zenon, a native of the city. Let me tell you about my incredible visit to Aspendus! It was an absolute feast for the senses and an experience that left me in awe. As I approached the

ancient city, I couldn't help but be captivated by its magnificent beauty and the sheer grandeur of its well-preserved structures. Walking through the gates of Aspendus felt like stepping back in time. The rich history enveloped me, and I couldn't help but imagine what life was like in this bustling city centuries ago. The Roman theater, oh my goodness, it was breathtaking! Its colossal size and intricate design left me speechless. I couldn't resist climbing up to the highest row, gazing down at the stage, and picturing the excitement and drama that once unfolded there.

But it wasn't just the theater that amazed me. As I wandered through the ancient streets, I marveled at the remains of the agora, the grand arches, and the towering aqueduct. Each structure seemed to tell a story, whispering tales of a vibrant past. I could almost hear the echoes of ancient conversations and the bustling sounds of a once-thriving city.

Aspendus is a place that will leave you mesmerized and give you a deeper appreciation for the incredible civilization that once thrived there. So, if you ever find yourself in Turkey, make sure to visit Aspendus. Immerse yourself in its rich history, marvel at its architectural wonders, and let the spirit of the past transport you to a time long gone.

Visit the local Markets

Oh, let me take you on a thrilling journey through the vibrant local markets of Turkey! It was an experience like no other, a sensory overload of colors, scents, and bustling energy. From the moment I stepped foot into these markets, I was swept away by the sights and sounds that surrounded me.

The first thing that caught my eye were the rows and rows of stalls, adorned with colorful textiles and garments. It was a treasure trove for fashion enthusiasts like me, with a multitude of options ranging from traditional clothing to modern styles. I couldn't resist the temptation to try on some of the exquisitely embroidered dresses and haggle with friendly vendors for the best price. It was a delight to discover unique pieces that reflected Turkey's rich cultural heritage. As I continued wandering through the markets, I found myself by a dizzying array of goods. From artisanal to

intricate ceramics, from sparkling jewelry to vibrant rugs, there was something for everyone. The craftsmanship and attention to detail were awe-inspiring, and I couldn't help but admire the skill and dedication that went into creating these beautiful pieces.

But it wasn't just the tangible items that captured my attention. The markets were also a hub for traditional healing medicine and spices. The aroma of exotic herbs and spices filled the air, tempting me to explore further. I was fascinated by the various stalls offering natural remedies, teas, and oils, each promising to heal and rejuvenate. The friendly vendors eagerly shared their knowledge, explaining the benefits of different herbs and their role in traditional Turkish medicine.

Of course, I couldn't overlook the excitement of stumbling upon stalls with duplicate fake brands. It was like stepping into a world of imitation luxury, where you could find almost anything your heart desired, from designer handbags to high-end watches. While authenticity is important, it was an amusing experience to see the creativity of these knock-off items.

What made my visit to the local markets in Turkey so thrilling was the lively and bustling atmosphere. The friendly banter between vendors and customers, the vibrant colors, the bargaining, and the haggling - it all added to the excitement. It felt like being part of a vibrant tapestry, where cultures, traditions, and commerce seamlessly intertwined.

Visiting these markets was not just a shopping experience; it was a cultural immersion. It allowed me to connect with the local community, learn about their traditions, and appreciate the beauty that Turkey has to offer. So, if you ever find yourself in Turkey, make sure to explore the local markets. Get ready to be enchanted by the vibrant atmosphere, discover unique treasures, and create memories that will last a lifetime. There are many markets around Turkey, whilst some will give you more value for your money than others. They are all good!!!

I am not motivating you to buy fake goods, but if you fancy a specific Handbag go for it. I had one for many years, the material was incredibly durable and just pretty.

When you do go to shops, you can try to negotiate the pricing of the product you want to buy. They are quite flexible. Especially when they see you coming to the same markets for days in a row.

Cappadocia - hot air balloons

We didn't personally go to Cappadocia as we didn't have more time but we are planning on seeing it very soon.

To be honest I am afraid of heights so not sure riding a Hot Baloon is something I would do, but just to see those balloons in real life is currently on my bucket list! When I think about all the beautiful pictures I can take there it makes me go even more and real soon!

Visit Pamukkale

One of Turkey's most famous natural wonders, the pure white travertine terraces of Pamukkale ("Cotton Castle" in English) cascade down the slope looking like an out-of-place snowfield amid the green landscape.

Although the travertines are themselves a highlight of a Turkey trip, the vast and rambling ruins of Greco-Roman Hierapolis, an ancient spa town, lie scattered across the summit of this calcite hill.

After exploring the amphitheater, with its views across the countryside, and the remnants of the city's agora, gymnasium, necropolis, and grand gates, you can swim in the mineral-rich waters that made this ancient spa town famous, in the antique pool.

Just Imagine being in this place all by yourself. It is possible if you go early!

Visiting Duden Waterfalls is a favorite activity for many, and here are three reasons why people are drawn to its beauty:
