Mastering Mornings: A Blueprint for Your Ideal Morning Routine

What is the best Morning Routine? NONE

There is no 1 morning routine that would fit the billions of people living on earth.

Some people work 9-5, some people have shift work, some work at night, some are freelancers, some don't study or work.

So how will you find the best routine for you?

Let's start by noting down one of the best Morning Routines that I read on the book "The Miracle Morning" and see all the options within that routine that you could practice.

mental health benefits of having a daily routine

These are the SAVERS as per Hal Elrod that will help you create your perfect Morning Routine

  1. Silence (Meditation or Prayer): Start your day with a few minutes of silence. Find a quiet space, sit in a comfortable position, and focus on your breath or a mantra. This helps calm your mind and reduce stress.

  2. Affirmations: After your meditation, repeat positive affirmations that align with your goals and values. Affirmations can help boost your confidence and motivation.

  3. Visualisation: Spend a few minutes visualising your goals and dreams as if they've already come true. This can help create a clear mental picture of what you want to achieve.

  4. Exercise: Engage in physical activity to get your blood flowing and boost your energy. This can be a short workout, yoga, or a brisk walk or run.

  5. Reading: Dedicate some time to reading, particularly personal development or self-help books. This can help you gain new insights and knowledge.

  6. Scribing (Journaling): Write in a journal to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and goals. You can also use this time to express gratitude and jot down your daily tasks.

To start with the SAVERS try to wake up at least 1h before your usual time. Remember, the key to a successful morning routine is consistency. Start with a manageable amount of time for each SAVERS component, and gradually increase it as you become more comfortable with the routine. The "Miracle Morning" is designed to set a positive tone for your day and help you achieve personal growth and success over time.

Now let me break it down for you - this could be your morning routine depending on your situation

If you work during the night

1- Wake up 1 hour earlier than you would usually to start getting ready

2- Make a list of things that you have been keeping on hold for a long time but really would like to learn/research/explore.

It can be anything! Maybe you are trying to look for jobs but can't find the time. Or you want to learn a new skill in order to be able to apply for a specific job. Or maybe you want to read a book. Take 15 minutes to indulge in that new skill.

3- Take 15 minutes to sit on a chair, close your eyes and just breathe in and breathe out without thinking about anything.

4- Take 15 minutes to do basic exercises to get your blood running.

5- Take 15 minutes to plan your day on a notebook or notepad. Write what needs to be done. For example it can be shopping for groceries, work tasks that need your urgent attention, picking up a parcel or Messaging a friend you have been missing lately.

And that's it - your hour is finished. Maybe at some point you yourself will want to increase this 1 hour into 2 hours. That's completely up to you.

Try this for at least 3 days and see how you feel about it. See what changes it brought to your mind.

While doing this routine you will discover what you like and have most pleasure doing in - maybe its not exercises, maybe you want to Practice Positive affirmations or listen to podcasts. It varies from person to person. Good Luck!

Now that you have an idea of what your routine can look like, just make sure that you don't stress or force yourself to be a certain way or feel that you failed and can't change if you are not able to follow this steps.

Beating yourself up for it will only make it worse. Trust yourself and your process.

I am sure you can change and be the best version of yourself.
