Peace Not War - Respect for Ukraine

It's hard to put myself into the Ukrainians shoes. The bravery and patriotism they are showing is a newly found eye opening respect in 2022.

What would you do if you were given 2 choices? To run away like a coward or fight for your country, for the security of your family not knowing whether you will ever come back?

It's hard to stay home, watching people getting murdered on YouTube and other social media platforms. It's feeling useless while others are fighting for their

independence in this generation.

It's hard to believe that i can order a McDonald's right now, while others are thinking "will i survive this night?"

The guilt of being privileged comes with a price in the state of mind of a lot of people. While some are buying holidays, others are hungry. While some are buying clothes online, others have lost their houses, properties, savings, dreams not knowing if they will ever have a normal day.

6 Consequences Of The War In Ukraine That Could Resonate Through Generations

  1. Psychological Trauma: War often leads to widespread psychological trauma in the form of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental health issues. Children and grandchildren of war survivors can inherit these emotional scars, affecting their well-being and relationships.

  2. Loss and Grief: The loss of family members and friends in war can lead to profound grief that carries through generations. Descendants may feel a sense of longing and emotional pain, even if they did not directly experience the conflict.

  3. Cultural Displacement: Wars can force entire communities to flee their homes, leading to cultural displacement and the loss of cultural heritage. Future generations may struggle to connect with their ancestral roots and traditions.

  4. Economic Instability: The economic consequences of war, including destruction of infrastructure and resources, can create a cycle of poverty that affects subsequent generations. Limited access to education and opportunities can hinder their development.

  5. Health Impacts: The environmental and health hazards of war, such as exposure to chemicals and landmines, can have long-term health effects on future generations. Birth defects and chronic health conditions may be passed down.

  6. Cycles of Violence: The normalisation of violence in war-torn regions can perpetuate cycles of conflict. Children growing up in such environments may be more prone to adopting violent behaviours, continuing the legacy of war.

Understanding these effects underscores the urgency of working towards peace and conflict resolution, as the consequences of war can cast a shadow over the lives of countless innocent individuals in future generations.

Hopefully this all ends soon and the truth prevails. What I choose to take from this situation is the spirit of the people in Ukraine, who even in this unprecedented times have a smile on their face, helping their brothers and sisters and motivating each other to keep going on.
